Malik Willis, J.K. Dobbins, Romeo Doubs and Hunter Henry are the first names on our DraftKings budget shortlist. FanDuel changes the calculation: Sam Darnold, Aaron Jones Sr. and Isaiah Likely deserve stronger consideration at their platform-specific prices. The aim is to buy usable scoring potential without forcing the rest of the lineup into speculative roles.

For this article, “cheap” means no more than $6,000 at QB or RB, $5,000 at WR and $4,000 at TE on DraftKings. On FanDuel, the limits are $7,500, $6,500, $6,000 and $5,500 respectively. These are editorial screening thresholds, not universal definitions of value. Our recommendations weigh price, estimated points and role uncertainty.

QB: Malik Willis offers the deepest discount; Sam Darnold is the alternative

Willis costs $4,600 on DraftKings against Cincinnati, with an estimate of approximately 17.0 points. That works out to approximately 3.69 estimated points per $1,000 of salary. Darnold costs $1,200 more and carries a 19.6-point estimate. The extra spending buys about 2.6 modeled points; the decision is whether that money produces a larger upgrade elsewhere.

On FanDuel, Darnold's $7,200 salary and 19.4-point projection yield about 2.69 points per $1,000, compared with 2.50 for Willis at $6,600 and 16.5 points. That makes Darnold our preferred affordable FanDuel option in this comparison. Seattle faces a San Francisco defense allowing 209.0 net passing yards per game, 11th-fewest after four games, so this is a pricing case rather than a claim of an easy matchup.

Both quarterbacks are listed first at their position in the depth snapshot. That is a starting point for research, not confirmation of Sunday's lineup. Verify the current team report before lock; Miami's official Willis profile and Seattle's Darnold profile also confirm their current team affiliations.

RB: J.K. Dobbins is a price play, not a recent-production endorsement

Dobbins is $5,000 on DraftKings and $5,900 on FanDuel. The estimates are 13.2 and 12.6 points, respectively. The Chargers have allowed 121.8 rushing yards per game in the snapshot, 22nd-fewest, which gives the matchup a more favorable statistical backdrop than several similarly priced options.

The central risk is the gap between his projection and his recorded output: DraftKings reports just 5.2 historical PPG. Paying for a rebound requires more confidence in the coming workload than that average alone provides. Check the latest depth and practice reports, and compare the alternatives rather than treating a low salary as evidence of safety.

FanDuel's stronger mid-budget alternative is Aaron Jones Sr. at $6,200 with a 15.0-point projection against New Orleans. The additional $300 over Dobbins buys 2.4 projected points. His DraftKings salary is $6,500, outside our cheap-RB screen. This is precisely why a value list should change by platform.

WR: Romeo Doubs keeps a passing stack affordable

Doubs is $5,000 on DraftKings and $6,000 on FanDuel, with estimates of 12.7 and 10.6 points. The Patriots' official roster profile confirms his move to New England. Pairing him with Drake Maye costs $11,300 on DraftKings, leaving $38,700 for seven slots.

The Raiders have allowed the eighth-fewest net passing yards per game in the current four-game sample. Doubs is therefore a salary-efficient way to express a New England passing-game view, not a matchup-proof receiver. His first-listed outside-receiver depth designation should not be read as a guaranteed team-leading target share.

TE: Hunter Henry saves money; Isaiah Likely changes the FanDuel conversation

Henry's $3,700 DraftKings salary and 9.2-point estimate make him our budget tight-end starting point. At $5,100 on FanDuel, however, he projects for 7.6 points. Likely costs only $200 more there and projects for 10.5. That makes the Giants tight end the more appealing FanDuel alternative on these inputs.

Likely faces Washington, whose defense has allowed 242.5 net passing yards and 30.5 points per game. Those team-level numbers offer context, but do not establish how the Commanders defend tight ends specifically. His $4,300 DraftKings salary sits above our TE budget limit, so the recommendation is deliberately different across platforms.

Turn the shortlist into a complete lineup

Start with one or two savings decisions, then compare the entire roster. A cheap player is useful only if the freed salary improves the other slots. Use Lineup Lab to compare the best-average, stacked and balanced builds; inspect the player popup for updated role information and remember that historical cost per point and projected points per dollar answer different questions.

Sources and methodology

Analysis uses a frozen snapshot checked October 6, 2026 at 9:23 PM ET, for the October 11, 2026 main slate. Prices, projections, weather and availability can change. These articles are dated research, not an automatically updated player feed.

DraftKings estimates are Frumpy Duck calculations from FanDuel-projected passing, rushing and receiving statistics, rescored for full PPR. They omit yardage bonuses, fumbles and rare scoring events. They are not official DraftKings projections. A blank estimate remains blank. FanDuel figures use its own scoring. No ownership, snap share or probability of winning is inferred.
